eba Haussmann, the exclusive Santos Kitchens showroom in Paris (France), has collaborated with the renowned Parisian chef Jeffrey Cagnes in the design of a kitchen/workshop intended for teaching pastry classes. With this, the chef has gone one step further in his project to round off his Levallois-Perret shop with offices, a laboratory and a space where he could interact with people and share his know-how and his passion for cooking.
The creation of this atelier lets Jeffrey Cagnes bring two worlds that for him have plenty in common: baking and cooking. In fact, he confesses that cooking is one of the focal points in his life, and he considers it an essential space where one’s personal and professional lives converge. The chef is also cognizant of the fact that the kitchen is now a hub for interaction where one welcomes, cooks, shares, learns and enjoys with their nearest and dearest.
All these aspects have had an impact on the creation of his workshop – a large, bright, free-flowing space for him to host his masterclasses in a cosy, homey atmosphere, showing that it is possible to make stunning pastries in a domestic kitchen.
A LISSE design by Santos was chosen to fit out the atelier’s kitchen, with its sleek lines and plain fronts without handles that discreetly blend into the room’s interior design.
In accordance with Jeffrey Cagnes’s wishes, the kitchen has been laid out in parallel around a large centre island in Rustic Oak wood, with two Santos worktop-mounted bars in the same finish and quartzite worktop. This unit, aside from holding the preparation and cooking areas, has enough room for 12 people around the chef’s area.
The rest of the furniture has been laid out in a row that combines tall units and base units finished in Pearl White Silk Matt, plus an area with shelves. The tall units integrate the ovens, a fridge and space to store provisions in a compact and organised manner.
A pocket door cabinet that’s 120 cm wide with fronts that can be temporarily hidden away along its sides stands out in this composition. Its interiors – finished in Rustic Oak wood – include shelves with rear lighting and an auxiliary work area with worktop, lighting bar with slit for accessories and plug sockets.
This run has been rounded off with a washing-up area featuring a built-in dishwasher, sink unit with recycling bins and an area with shelves made up of a wall panel, shelves with under shelf lighting and a lighting bar with slit to accommodate practical kitchen accessories.
