Santos Kitchens: a new collection of kitchen units and an innovation award
3rd Kitchen and Bath Design Awards
This is the second time that Santos has won this award, after having received it during the first edition held in 2015. This award recognises the brand’s track record and capacity for innovation, emphasising that ‘its collections are designed to create more practical and organised kitchens and to provide specific solutions for space management, storage and aesthetic preferences’. What’s more, ‘the high quality of its finishes and the variety of accessories available’ were also identified as its strong points.
Symmetry, balance and personality
Practically coinciding with the presentation of this award, Santos unveiled its 2019 Collection of kitchen units. The magazine Interiores analysed one of its new designs and complimented its ‘clever storage solutions and trendy materials and finishes’.
It’s a black kitchen with island which is completely open and located right in the middle of the home’s daytime living areas. The colour black—‘a range that’s absolutely contemporary’—and its handle-less fronts come together to create a harmonious and contemporary ambience. The island’s sculptural shape makes it easy to forget that it is actually intended for storage and the tall units create a functional partition with aesthetic value.
The plinth drawer is one of the innovations that garnered the most attention from Interiores. This solution makes it possible to expand the capacity of base units down to the floor, getting up to four spacious, easy-to-access levels of storage.
Likewise, the magazine stressed the possibility of personalising cabinet interiors, as well as the capacity of the drawers and bins to adapt to user habits and needs through multiple accessories.
