José Santos (1928-2019): a lifetime dedicated to carpentry

Today José Santos has left us. He was the founder of SANTOS’ kitchen brand, who devoted all his lifetime to the profession he loved, carpentry.
At the age of twelve, he joined the small workshop that his father, Antonio Santos Barral, had founded in 1923. Short after that, he opened its own workshop and in 1952, decided to specialise in kitchen furniture. Since then, the brand Santos has continued to grow and evolve, developing its own style, which has made it become a benchmark.
In this documentary video, which was recorded in 2015, José Santos made a review of the moments that had marked his beginnings and his long professional career. He remembered with pride that «all of Santos’s ancestors were wood descendants». He was also convinced that his company had a great future ahead: «I think that our grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren will continue because we have blood of sawdust already stuck to our bones».
All of us who have been fortunate to know him feel his absence today.
