Island Kitchen in a Stately Home

Polar White LINE-L

The owners of this stately home, located in Madrid’s Salamanca neighbourhood, decided to carry out a complete renovation in order to get it ready to rent. The kitchen is fitted with the Polar White LINE-L units by Santos, a modern design that—with its minimalist look of clean lines and handle-less fronts—seamlessly blends into other more classical elements such as the marble flooring or wooden beams.

The kitchen connects to an outdoor terrace by means of a large window, allowing plenty of natural light to stream in. This is further enhanced by a colour scheme where white predominates, in sharp contrast to the touches of black which add depth and dimension to the whole. In addition, the black worktops and glass fronts create a mirror effect that further increases brightness. The result is an open, bright and cosy atmosphere—full of serenity and harmony.

An island with a washing-up area and an extended worktop is found at the centre of the room, and the rest of the units are arranged perpendicular to it: on one side, a row of tall units holds electrical appliances and storage units, and on the other, a combination of base and wall units making up the cooking area. This is rounded off with another combination of base and wall units, found right behind the island, which includes work and storage spaces.

This layout favours the entrance of natural light into the room, avoids unnecessary trips to and fro when preparing meals and facilitates teamwork, as the walk space around the island makes it possible for several users to work together without getting in each other’s way.
