  • Antonio Santos Barral

    1923 — The origins

Santos started as a small carpentry near Santiago de Compostela at the beginning of the century.  Run by José Antonio Santos Barral, in 1923 it already had 4 employees.

    1952 — The beginnings

José Santos, following his father's footsteps, opened up a carpentry workshop very near Santiago de Compostela.

  • Cream PRIMA

1960s and 1970s — The first kitchen cupboards

In the 1960s the first kitchen cupboards were produced. Due to this product specialisation we expanded our facilities and we improved the production system directing it towards kitchen manufacturing. In the 1970s the manufacturing of independent units began and the monoblock cupboards from previous decades were abandoned.

  • Lacquered HG red MYTHOS

The 1990s — Our fronts evolve

Our fronts evolved. More finishes were offered including lacquer (textured, matt silk and gloss) as well as more laminates and melamine finishes with different combinations of edges. The MYTHOS model appeared, the first version of a front without a handle; this was an important innovation thanks to the purity of its lines.

    1995 — Function block

Concern focused on planning the kitchen area according to its functions. The "function block” concept became the benchmark for kitchen architecture. This system involved the development of new worktops, which varied in thickness, edges and materials, depending on the area for which they were intended (Granitop, steel worktops and frames, anti-drip edges, etc).

    1999 — Interior design

This is the starting point for a better organisation of the interior of the units. A new concept of interior design was introduced: kitchens were designed with drawers in the base units, avoiding the use of doors which restrict access to the interior of the cupboard.

    2001 — Optimising spaces

Storage space was optimised by promoting horizontal projection in the base units and incorporating drawers up to 120 cm wide and 65 cm deep. All of the dimensions of the units changed both in height and depth. The height of base units was fixed at 72 cm to achieve a better use of the interior, while depths reached up to 70 cm.

  • Pearl white lacquered MINOS

    2004 — Minos Series

We focused on the search for more resistant materials which could be used in the kitchen as well as smooth, plain fronts which make cleaning easier and have a sleek and functional aesthetic design. The MINOS model was born, an evolution of the MYTHOS model with no handles, incorporating several improvements and combining it with steel, which reappeared with force in fronts, worktops, frames and wall panels.

  • Sand melamine MINOS-E

    2007 — Santos' standard

Solutions designed to optimise the kitchen’s storage capacity were incorporated. 30, 40 and 60 cm deep drawers were introduced, and the latter became the new Santos standard. Base units with a height of 81 cm were also introduced, which allowed for a better use of the interior of the units.

  • Laminated stone grey PLANO

    2009 — Collection 2009

Santos introduces the Assisted Opening System (SAA) that allows users to open drawers effortlessly whilst maintaining the storage capacity.  An innovative solution is introduced for integrating extractor hoods which not only leads to a better use of space and the incorporation of a lighting system in the work area, but also contributes to a more aesthetically unified wall area of the kitchen.

  • White lacquered KARMEL

    2011 — Collection 2011

New constructive improvements for units are introduced. Other highlights are drawers in pearl white and the assisted opening system for wall units (SAA-P): with a gentle push the door will open automatically and will return to its original position, without any effort, by simply pressing the close button.

  • Walnut WOOD NATURA

    2011 — Collection 2011

The coplanar sliding door system is also introduced which permits greater visibility and easier access to the interior of the unit. Once they are closed, the doors line up perfectly. Interior accessories in wood are developed respecting their natural beauty.

  • Snow White INTRA-L

    2012 — Collection 2012

The total absence of a handle is one of the main characteristics of the Intra model. Santos has developed an innovative opening system where the units' profile is adapted so it acts as a handle.
