Santos Kitchen Cabinets: Utmost Functionality in the Least Amount of Space
12 / 07 / 2018 —
The magazine Interiores stresses the importance of optimal space planning to enjoy a comfortable and functional kitchen. The cabinets designed by Santos are a direct response to this reality, adapting to any space and environment for utmost functionality in the least amount of space.

Kitchen project: Docrys
In this holiday home, the kitchen has been designed following the principles of subtlety, functionality, capacity and beauty. The handle-less cabinets designed by Santos—with their pure, clean lines and simple shapes—seamless blend into an architecture characterised by natural light, simplicity and the absence of accessory elements. The units comprise a central island, an area with base units, mid-height units and a combination of tall units, creating a highly functional kitchen that keeps unnecessary trips to and fro when preparing meals to a minimum and facilitates teamwork.

The heart of this apartment is a kitchen with an island, which opens out to public areas such as the living room, dining room and TV room. The white kitchen units by Santos enhance the room’s brightness and, with their minimalist design, avoid overloading the environment. The work area is defined using sliding doors with aluminium slats and transparent glass panels—a solution that makes it possible to close the kitchen off from the other rooms, providing privacy without foregoing brightness. This fosters interaction among users, regardless of the room where they’re found.

The owners of this home wanted a kitchen in keeping with its spirit: open, discreet, elegant and highly functional, without overlooking storage capacity. To meet their needs, units combining two designs by Santos with plain, light-coloured fronts were chosen, helping to create a harmonious and serene atmosphere—perfect for both work and play. The equipment, a large central island rounded off with tall units, makes the most of the available space without being excessive.

The two key elements to this renovation are brightness and visual continuity, which help to create airy, balanced and harmonious spaces. For the kitchen units, a Horizontal Ivory Ash design by Santos—characterised by simplicity and clean, pure lines—was chosen. The kitchen has an L-shaped layout with a central island; it opens out to the corridor leading to the home’s entrance on one end and to the dining room connected to the living room on the other end.
