The Santos Kitchen Cabinet Factory Receives a Visit from the Escola Universitaria de Estudos Empresariais
11 / 04 / 2018 —
The Santos kitchen factory received a visit from a group of students from the Escola Universitaria de Estudos Empresariais (University College of Business Studies) of the University of Vigo (Pontevedra). The students, accompanied by Consuelo Currás Valle—school director and professor of International Marketing—, and María de Mar Riveiro Pérez—professor of Economics—, were able to see the manufacturing and sales process for a kitchen first-hand.
The students began their visit with a tour of the different areas of the kitchen factory—structure manufacturing, front lacquering, unit assembly and quality laboratory—, which was accompanied by a detailed explanation of the processes carried out in each area. Afterwards, they were able to view a display of the latest kitchen designs created by Santos up close.
To conclude, the students attended a talk/discussion on the company’s beginnings, evolution and internationalisation process. During the talk—in which the visitors were very interested and participative—, the brand’s current market position, the inner workings of the Spanish market and the peculiarities of each of the markets in which the company operates worldwide were analysed.
Consuelo Currás Valle, school director, considered the visit to be highly educational and placed particular emphasis on the strategic design of Santos’ growth and development, ‘I would never have imagined that a kitchen factory could get so far. I was very impressed at how a company that started small has been able to become what it is today in a relatively short period of time—the leader in Spain and known all over the world’. She added, ‘I believe that a businessman with a clear plan of action was instrumental to this and the influx of young people gave added boost. This is due to having a long-term vision in place, which is not common in small and medium-sized companies’.
