Santos Kitchen Cabinets: Designs that Suit a Classic or Modern Ambience

18 / 12 / 2017 —

Once again, the spotlight is on the kitchen cabinets designed by Santos, as shown by the renovation projects featured by specialist media in architecture, decor and interior design.

Cocinas y Baños and Mi Casa take a look at the renovation of a home with a hundred years of history, which the new owners wanted to preserve. This is why the original architectural elements were kept intact, although some visual barriers were torn down to make the areas more free flowing. The works left the terrace, kitchen and living room in one straight row, removing any obstacle that would get in the way of smooth passage through these areas. All furniture and decorative accessories were carefully chosen to complement the most outstanding aspects of the building. The Santos kitchen cabinets, of the ÉPOCA design—which is a timeless classic—, go perfectly with the table and chairs to further emphasise the house’s traditional style. The rustic Toba Catalana terracotta tiles that were used in the terrace and kitchen work area as flooring link the interior with the exterior. In contrast, the oak wood parquet brings together the pantry area and living room, providing warmth, coherence and harmony to the whole—creating a bright, pleasant and very cosy atmosphere.

Mi Casa also features a complete renovation that gave the home a new layout, which was more suited to the owners’ needs. This is particularly apparent in the kitchen, where the family generally spends a large amount of time. One of their main requirements was having a comfortable area, where everyone could get together for a meal or a chat. They also wanted the kitchen to have more work surfaces, storage space, including laundry solutions. A peninsula bisects the room, as a transition between the work area and the pantry area. For a more spacious feel and to make the most of natural light, the Gloss White LINE-L cabinet design by Santos, together with the Vertical Walnut LINE-W model for the tall units, was chosen. The latter design's wood finish, combined with the parquet flooring, adds a touch of warmth that makes it more homey.

In the renovation project covered by the magazine Casa Diez, interior design Natalia Zubizarreta clearly saw that conservative and minimalist furniture would be completely out of character for the owners, who loved everything vintage. With this in mind, she chose the White Silk Matt ÉPOCA design by Santos, in which the harmony and balance of this timeless classic provide the perfect backdrop for equipment designed for modern needs. The white colour of the fronts helps to enhance the room’s natural brightness, while giving a lighter and more spacious feel. The retro look is created by details such as the fittings, the metro tiles with bevelled edge or the honed black granite worktop. To achieve a cosier atmosphere, a Light Elm worktop by Santos was added to the peninsula, which is perfect for breakfast or quick meals. The wallpaper with floral motifs covering the pantry wall gives it a refreshing touch.

The kitchen featured by Interiores gets plenty of natural light on two of its sides, through a sliding door and a large window facing a garden. This is further enhanced by units that combine the LINE-L and SEDA models by Santos, both with a Snow White finish, with skirting and horizontal ‘Gola’ profiles in white aluminium. The minimalist design of the units goes especially well with this architecture, which is characterised by high ceilings and the absence of visual obstacles. The wooden beams, the paint on the walls and the solid oak counter—adding warmth—provide a counterpoint to balance out the whole. The hydraulic mosaic tile flooring, which matches the island counter, also plays an important role in harmonising the different areas, as it is found throughout the entire floor.

Arquitectura y Diseño focuses on a kitchen that serves as the hub for the home’s daytime living areas. As it opens out directly to the living room and is readily visible from different angles, the White Seff LINE-E kitchen cabinet design by Santos was chosen for its pure, clean lines, which seamlessly blend into the floor’s interior design. Following the same principle, the layout is intended for maximum functionality and capacity in the least amount of space, with only a row of units complemented by a large central island. This results in a comfortable, practical kitchen with sufficient storage space without overdecorating.

Casa Viva devotes an article to the complete renovation of a home in which the kitchen was fitted with the White Silk Matt LINE design by Santos, with a minimalist profile and clean lines. The white colour of its fronts, together with the white walls and ceilings, creates a pure and harmonious atmosphere. In addition, the integration solutions provided by the furniture create an open area with no visual barriers, which favours the entry of natural light through the glass door of the clothesline.
